What's covered under the Article:

  • YES Bank shareholders approve the reappointment of Prashant Kumar as Managing Director & CEO for the period October 6, 2025, to April 5, 2026.

  • Under Mr. Kumar’s leadership, YES Bank successfully completed a rapid turnaround, transforming into a recapitalised and resilient institution post-2020 reconstruction.

  • Mr. Kumar has extensive banking experience, previously serving in multiple senior roles at SBI, and holds degrees in Science and Law from Delhi University.

YES Bank Limited announced the extension of tenure of Mr. Prashant Kumar as the Managing Director & CEO of the Bank for the period from October 6, 2025, to April 5, 2026, as approved by the Members of the Bank at the 21st Annual General Meeting held on August 21, 2025. The remuneration payable to Mr. Kumar during this period is subject to RBI approval. This decision has been made in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations and relevant SEBI circulars.

Mr. Kumar has been a central figure in YES Bank’s recovery and growth post its reconstruction in March 2020, when he was appointed Managing Director & CEO. He has led the Bank through a transformation journey, ensuring it became a re-energised, recapitalised, and recalibrated organization while maintaining steadfast commitment to its customers and stakeholders. The turnaround achieved under his leadership is recognized as one of the rare instances where an Indian bank was successfully revived from the brink of collapse in a remarkably short timeframe of just one year.

Before joining YES Bank, Mr. Kumar served as Deputy Managing Director & CFO at State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest banking institution. His 34-year tenure at SBI included a diverse range of roles, from credit management to human resources, including senior positions such as Deputy Managing Director (HR & Corporate Development), Deputy Managing Director & COO, Chief General Manager, General Manager, and faculty at SBI’s Apex Training Institute.

Mr. Kumar holds a degree in Science and a Law degree from Delhi University. There are no relationships between him and any other directors of YES Bank.

This reappointment reflects the Bank’s confidence in Mr. Kumar’s strategic leadership and proven ability to guide YES Bank through complex challenges while positioning it for long-term sustainable growth in the Indian banking sector.
