The storm is currently centered about 120 km east-northeast of Puducherry and 110 km southeast of Chennai, moving west-northwestward at a speed of 13 km/h. It is expected to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast later this evening as a cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 70-80 km/h, gusting up to 90 km/h.
As the cyclone approaches, heavy rainfall is expected in the affected regions, potentially causing flooding, damaging winds, and disruptions to infrastructure. The IMD has issued warnings for residents in these areas to remain cautious and follow safety instructions.
