In a sharp and public critique, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi ridiculed the Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for presenting a misleading image as a memento of “Operation Bunyan al-Marsus” to Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The incident, which took place amid high-profile attendance including Pakistan’s President and Speaker of the National Assembly, exposed what Owaisi called a failed attempt by Pakistan’s military leadership to boast victory over India using fabricated evidence.

Owaisi pointed out that the gifted photograph was not a genuine image of any Pakistani military success but was instead a picture from a 2019 Chinese Army drill. This erroneous presentation was not only embarrassing but also highlighted a deeper issue of misinformation and propaganda attempts by Pakistan in the ongoing conflict with India.

During an interaction with the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, Owaisi mocked the Pakistani leadership, stating that "One needs to apply brains even while copying," underscoring the lack of intelligence and credibility within the Pakistani top brass. He further called them “stupid jokers” for trying to compete with India through such deceitful means. His comments were laced with sarcasm and contempt, reflecting his frustration with Pakistan’s repeated disinformation tactics.

Owaisi advised the Indian community abroad to rely solely on the official statements from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the government's spokespersons regarding ongoing military operations, particularly Operation Sindoor, rather than getting misled by false narratives spun by Pakistan.

Context of Operation Sindoor and Operation Bunyan al-Marsus

Operation Sindoor was launched by India in the early hours of May 7 as a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 innocent lives. The Indian Armed Forces targeted and destroyed several terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), notably those associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Muridke.

In retaliation, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan al-Marsus to counter India’s strikes. It is during the display of this operation’s supposed success that Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir mistakenly presented the old Chinese army drill photograph as proof, exposing Pakistan’s propaganda efforts.
