PM Modi in Sikkim – May 29

The Prime Minister will begin his tour with a visit to Sikkim on May 29 at around 11:00 AM, where he will take part in the “Sikkim@50: Where Progress meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth” event. The program is a celebration of 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood and will highlight its cultural richness, traditions, and sustainable growth under the campaign “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim”.

Among the major announcements and inaugurations in Sikkim:

  • Foundation stone for a 500-bedded District Hospital in Namchi, worth ₹750 crore.

  • Passenger Ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling in Gyalshing District to boost tourism and connectivity.

  • Statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Sangkhola, Gangtok District.

  • Release of Commemorative Coin, Souvenir Coin and Stamp marking 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood.


PM Modi in West Bengal – May 29

Following his Sikkim engagement, PM Modi will reach West Bengal around 2:15 PM. He will lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.

Key features of the project:

  • Worth over ₹1,010 crore, aiming to provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to 2.5 lakh households.

  • Establishment of around 19 CNG stations for vehicles.

  • Over 100 commercial and industrial connections to be included.

  • The project will help offer clean, affordable, and environment-friendly fuel while creating employment opportunities in the region.


PM Modi in Bihar – May 29-30

May 29 Evening (5:45 PM)

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the new terminal building of Patna Airport, a state-of-the-art facility built at a cost of ₹1,200 crore. The terminal is designed to handle up to 1 crore passengers annually.

He will also lay the foundation stone for Bihta Airport's new civil enclave, valued at ₹1,410 crore. Bihta is being developed into a major aviation and educational hub with institutions like IIT Patna and proposed NIT campus.

May 30 (11:00 AM) – Karakat

A mega development launch will take place in Karakat, where PM Modi will unveil projects worth over ₹48,520 crore, including:

  • Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage II, 3x800 MW) in Aurangabad, worth ₹29,930 crore, to bolster energy security in eastern India.

  • Road Infrastructure Projects like:

    • Four-laning of Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section (NH-119A)

    • Six-laning of Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway (NH-319B)

    • New Ganga Bridge between Buxar and Bharauli

    • Four-laning of Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section (NH-22)

    • Upgrades in Gopalganj Town (NH-27)

  • Rail Infrastructure Projects:

    • Dedication of Son Nagar–Mohammad Ganj 3rd rail line, worth ₹1,330 crore, among others.

These efforts will significantly improve trade, logistics, and accessibility while supporting industrial growth.


PM Modi in Uttar Pradesh – May 30

In the final leg of his tour, PM Modi will visit Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh around 2:45 PM, where he will launch development projects worth ₹20,900 crore, focusing on metro rail, power, water, and road infrastructure.

Key Highlights in Kanpur and Greater Noida:

  • Inauguration of Kanpur Metro Rail Project’s Chunniganj to Kanpur Central stretch, worth ₹2,120 crore, including five underground stations.

  • 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project, worth ₹8,300 crore, and three 660 MW units of Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, worth ₹9,330 crore, enhancing power capacity.

  • Inauguration of 132 kV substations at Ecotech-8 and 10 in Greater Noida, and laying of a 220 kV substation in YEIDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Other infrastructure launches:

  • Rail Over Bridges at Panki Power House Railway Crossing and Panki Dham Crossing to decongest traffic and aid logistics.

  • 40 MLD Tertiary Treatment Plant at Bingawan, worth ₹290 crore, to facilitate sewage water reuse for industrial purposes.

  • Widening and strengthening of roads:

    • Gauria Pali Marg for industrial connectivity.

    • Road link from Narwal Mode (AH-1) to Kanpur Defence Node, aiding the Defence Corridor.

Additionally, certificates and cheques will be distributed to beneficiaries under key welfare schemes including:

  • PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojna

  • National Livelihood Mission

  • PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
