South Africa has officially unveiled their brand-new jersey for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final, marking a historic milestone as the Proteas prepare for their maiden appearance in the WTC summit clash. The final will be played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground starting June 11, where South Africa will face the reigning champions Australia in what promises to be a gripping contest.
The new jersey proudly features the “ICC WTC Final 2025” inscription on the right chest, signifying the importance of the occasion, while the left side displays the iconic Proteas logo. The design maintains a clean and modern look, with ‘Castle Lager’ — South Africa’s long-time beer brand sponsor — featured prominently on the leading arm. This marks another chapter in Castle Lager’s continued support of South African cricket, especially as the team competes on the world’s biggest stage.
South Africa earned their place in this final after a stellar WTC campaign, finishing at the top of the table with a winning percentage of 69.44%. They secured their qualification by defeating Pakistan 2-0 in January 2025, and also claimed consecutive series wins against Bangladesh (away) and Sri Lanka (home). This run has established the Proteas as the fourth team to qualify for the WTC final, joining New Zealand, India, and Australia, who have appeared in previous finals.
Despite their success, some cricket pundits and fans have debated the relative difficulty of South Africa’s road to the final. Critics argue that the Proteas avoided facing tougher opponents like England and Australia in longer series formats during their campaign. However, head coach Shukri Conrad has addressed these concerns firmly. In a recent statement shared via the Proteas Men’s official Instagram account, Conrad said:
“Some will say the easier run-in, I’d agree with that. But what we’ve had to encounter and how we’ve managed to navigate injuries and the New Zealand tour—I say stuff that there was nothing easy about this. It’s a resilient group of guys, there’s will to win. We deserve our spot there. We deserve our spot at Lord’s.”
The Proteas’ coaching staff and players have emphasized the importance of resilience, adaptability, and team spirit as key factors in their campaign, overcoming challenges both on and off the field.
Ahead of this final, South Africa also confirmed their official squad for the WTC final. The team is led by captain Temba Bavuma and includes notable players such as Ryan Rickelton, Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Keshav Maharaj, among others. The blend of experience and youth will be pivotal as South Africa aims to claim their first WTC title.
In addition, South Africa announced a continued partnership with Macron, their new apparel partner since before the Champions Trophy. Macron will remain the official kit supplier for both the men’s and women’s Proteas teams for the next five seasons, providing performance gear designed for the highest levels of competition.
The upcoming final at Lord’s is more than just a cricket match—it represents the culmination of years of progress for South African Test cricket. Facing the defending champions Australia, who have already lifted the Test mace twice, the Proteas will be keen to etch their name into history by securing their first-ever WTC title.
Fans and cricket lovers worldwide will be watching closely as this exciting chapter unfolds on June 11, with the Proteas donning their new jersey as a symbol of their determination and national pride.
